Our house had gone 20 years without a new coat of paint. Mike Pistro and his crew arrived at our house about a month before good painting weather to power wash our house and scour off loose paint. They allowed the exterior of the house to dry before they power washed it again. After the house was dry and good painting weather was afoot, Mike and his crew replaced rotted fascia boards, caulked all the seams, covered and taped windows, and took down the gutters. Our house had some cedar that was stained and sealed with a clear coating. Twenty years of weather and wind had worn off the clear coating. Mike suggested painting the house its original color of tan and the trim and cedar a dark chocolate brown My husband was adamant that the house absolutely has to match the color of his 24 x 30 shop. Because the house had gone unpainted for so long, Mike advised that the wood was so dry that it would suck up all the paint. He used a special "gluey" type of primer that would seal the wood and then painted it with a healthy coat of tan paint for the main house and chocolate brown trim and cedar front. Even though it was not in the budget, Mike and his crew painted the man door and overhead door on my husbands shop. The house won't need re-painting for a while. Mike said we got a 20 year paint job. My husband and I are absolutely delighted with how our house looks. Even more important, Mike and his crew paid special attention to the perennials planted in front of the house. Here are the before and after pictures. They need no explanation.
