I made three attempts to get a chair, ottoman and footstool covered using Alexander's. The first time, their very small office had too many people waiting; the second time I arrived on a Saturday and they were closed except for appointments; and the third attempt I was told that their slipcover fabric books (there were only two) were with another client. She was allowed two weeks (!!) with the books which had expired. The receptionist promised to get the books returned the next few days, so I made an appointment for the following week, prepared to bring in the fabrics I wanted to match and the stool that needed recovering, which I did. When I sat down, the receptionist told me she'd just hung up from the woman with the slipcover books, that she'd chosen her fabric and that she had arranged to pick up her furniture. I thought, "Why is she telling me this? Why do I care about another client's business?" I said, "You have the books. You have an appointment with me now to look at the books." No, she didn't have the books. That was my 4th and last trip to Alexander's. I chose the shop for two reasons: the first is that they had done a terrific job on other furniture in my home about ten years before and because I had a coupon for 20% off the fabric. Then I found out there are new owners from about 5 years ago. I don't know how well they upholster furniture because I never got that far. But as far as how they run their business, I give them a big, fat zero.

I am overjoyed to see the finished product of my recent redo of a worn ottoman. Lydia provided excellent advice on the choice of fabric and the design of the piece. She also helped me return it to my home when I had no one available to help me carry it in.

I have not had the best customer service. Been waiting on a Friday night for my chairs to be picked up for two hours. Have no one to contact and there is no answering machine.
