I had Correy Design Group remodel a bathroom in my cabin in Sugarloaf a small village in the Big Bear Valley, CA, in 2015.Cathy did an excellent job on the design but Hoppy who did the construction was at best difficult to work with. During the project I requested a heated floor and he refused to do it so I laid the Dytra mat and installed the heater cable and ran the electrical for the system. His floor tiler was hesitant to lay the tile complaining he might cut one of the heater cables with his trowel. I had to show him the cable was embedded in the mat. So he laid the tile on the floor. I also purchased some of the material for the bathroom since the contractor was not willing to purchase it such as the toilets, vanity, and exhaust fan. The fan I purchased was a supper quiet Panasonic model. I arrive in on a Friday night to see it was installed with the exhaust pointing to the exterior wall. I spent the next day turning the unit around so the duct would point toward the center of the house. I gave Hoppy a roof vent to install so the moisture from the bathroom would not collect in the attic. He never installed it. I did not notice this until recently when I was inspecting the roof and noticed it was missing. I also paid him to replace the water main running from the street to my house. He had a crew come in with jack hammers and shovels did the old pipe out and replace it with 3/4" copper and a new waste and stop valve. My driveway was covered with pee gravel and He brought in a load of sand to embed the new water line. I specifically ask that he place it on a plastic sheet to protect he driveway. At the end of the project there was a lot of sand left over while they remove most of it the balance was spread out on the driveway so we have been tracking sand in the house ever since. Last fall I was looking at the water meter with a Water Department Inspector and asked about the house side water meter connection and he said that was to provide the contractor with some flexibility during the installation. I asked it it could be changed and he said yes. I also notice the connection terminated to a piece of galvanized pipe. So the new line has on section of galvanized pipe left and I paid to have a new line installed. I also asked for the waste and stop valve be moved the the inside wall of the garden instead of the middle. it was placed on the outside of the wall and has been hit by vehicles several times. These items and the constant debate from Hoppy during the project leads me to not recommend Correy Design.
