Chris completed our front yard renovation last year, and he did a fantastic job. The project involved removal of the previous plants & rocks, construction of a fence & gate, installation of artificial turf and drought tolerant landscaping with a stone walkway. Chris was very straightforward about the project and he prioritizes doing the work the right way. We appreciated his attention to detail and transparency throughout the process. For example, he gave us specific choices about materials along with the pros and cons of each and he also ensured all plants were non-toxic for pets. Very happy with the end result - we love our front yard and we still get compliments on a regular basis. I highly recommend Earthtones to others.

For anyone in the drought tolerant landscape market, I highly recommend Chris and Earthtones Landscaping. They just finished a custom designed landscape for our backyard, and I couldn't be happier with the work or the overall experience. The project was done on time and within budget (despite my requests for a few out-of-scope additions, which he pleasantly accommodated). Not only is Chris easy to work with, but he's also an excellent designer, ethical, reliable, transparent, and in frequent communication about progress. And based on his work ethic, he really enjoys the work (he even took our bins out to the curb and brought them back one week when we forgot, and we didn't even ask him to!). 10 stars!

Chris did a great job on our front and side yard: horizontal gapped Japanese-influenced fence and stain, turf prep and install, drought resistant plant install, future electrical install (wire readiness, no fixtures), and new concrete driveway and walking paths. We had a lot of different elevations and not a straight line in sight to start with, but his eye for design and detail really pulled together our landscaping into something lovely (and on schedule).

In particular, Chris was very detailed to where finishes abutted and definitely had an artisan’s eye when it came to our fence install—I appreciated this since I’m in the commercial construction industry and rarely find someone more finicky about the final look than me.

Highly recommend Chris for any outdoor design and installation needs!

Chris is amazing! About a year ago he replaced our traditional lawn with beautiful, drought resistant, very low maintenance landscaping. (Our water bill has been cut in half! ) The yard is now a lovely garden. People comment on how beautiful it is- even the UPS guy. We love it!

Chris is amazing to work with! He listens carefully, stays on time and on budget. He is an expert on what plants will work here in the Bay Area and on the Coast ( we are up off of Skyline and Sharp Park). His designs are beautiful and he is so easy to work with. If you want a beautiful, low maintenance drought resistant yard or garden we highly recommend Chris!

Chris of Earthtones has done work for us several times over the past three or four years. We live on a bluff overlooking the ocean. The strong winds, salt air, deer and other creatures make it a real challenge to find plants that will work. Chris has met that challenge with an excellent selection of succulents and other plants and with knowledge of what will and will not work. He has a great eye for artistic placement of the plants and working in rocks and logs. Chris shows up when expected and works very hard and doesn't waste time. His prices are reasonable.
