Worst lumber yard in the central coast. I am a contractor and do a lot of high end decks and fences. I have never had such lack of customer service, product knowledge, friendly us out of the question. This place should sell their company and start over. I am a week behind on a project because. The order was wrong that they ordered, then they said they would order the right material when in reality that didn’t happen either. I am speechless. Don’t do business here, facts

Had the best experience working with Leota Lardner who helped us completely reconstruct our kitchen and bathroom cabinets during our recent remodel. Don't be put off by poor reviews, Hayward Lumber is big, they have pretty much exactly what you want, at least when it comes to Lumber (that's the name of the business after all). We very nearly didn't go here because of several bad reviews. All I can say is that the reviewers must have been unlucky, because the experience my wife and I had was outstanding.
As far as being helpful, one of the staff went out of his way to walk across the yard to seek us out to ask if we needed help. When we outlined our requirements, he guided us to another part of the yard and found us the most cost effective option, which turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. The checkout staff were also helpful and friendly, this will certainly be my "go-to" place for lumber in the future.
One word of caution, because they mainly deal with large contracts/contractors don't expect the "Ace Hardware" treatment if you go during their busy times, we went when it was quiet and there were staff available to help.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Extremely unknowable and rude staff. They are unable to answer product questions and speak to customers in an overall bothered/rude tone. I was using Hayward as a vendor for the construction company I am a manager for and was spending tens of thousands of dollars there monthly. I will no longer use this vendor as a result of their terrible customer service/rude employees! Save yourself the trouble and use miners or home depo where the employees are polite and helpful!
