We had inherited an Eames Lounge chair that my parents had since the late 1960s. It was still solid, but as my folks got older, they didn't care for it as well as they should have and the cushions were badly worn. We'd briefly considered just taking it to a local upholstery shop to have it reupholstered, but realized that its classic background deserved more. The team at Hobbs did a great job restoring the cushions with leather as lush as the original and now it looks like new. My folks would have been pleased to see it in use. It's a beautiful piece of furniture once again!

I spent many hours looking for a beautiful, long dresser for our "cabin" in the woods. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Hobbs Modern and found what I was looking for. My inquiries to Nicole were always well-responded. I placed my order and almost couldn't stand the anticipation of the arrival of the dresser. When the great delivery team got it in place with great care, we were just stunned at our selection and the quality of the piece.
We could not be happier with our choice to give our custom to Hobbs Modern.
We have them on the hunt for some interesting end tables so that should speak volumes about our happiness.

Nicole and Ryan are charming. They have good taste.
UPDATE:
THE WOOD GRAIN ON THE TOP OF THE PIECE IS NOW RAISED./ROUGH. This indicates the finish/stain was not properly applied.THE RESTORER DID NOT REFINISH THE TOP, ONLY REPAIRED THE VARIOUS DINGS. I did not have a detailed view of the piece that is seeing the top and the movement of the drasers. ALL I VIEWED WAS THE FRONT OF THE PIECE. AGAIN, Nicole's response is NOT TRUE.

AND OFFERING A RETURN THAT WOULD HAVE COST US @$1500+ IS HONESTLY SILLY AND INSULTING. ALAS..
An expensive learning experience.

However beware of any furniture they refinish-restore. This is a skill Ryan needs to work on, perhaps apprentice again.
Read carefully what they say about each piece. Pictures can lie, people can lie.
We purchased a dresser in the "Gio Ponti style" for 4K +shipping, with supposedly drawers that "glide easily". In order for that to happen the interior of each drawer will have to be rebuilt. (according to a restorer in Great Barrington where we live. He That is too much of an expense to take on with this piece. Neither Nicole or Ryan would own up to the facts and despite returning to us 500$ (which paid for the shipping) this experience is a disappointment. This was a pricey piece for us.
What learned from this experience is never buy direct from a dealer when you cannot see the furniture (we live in MD). Nicole not only wanted us to pay the return shipping, understandable but a 20% restocking fee. Ridiculous!
Don't use InCollect, rather use 1stDibs always helpful. (Hobbs-Modern now on 1stDibs)

I had lost my Plycraft Mr. Chair to Hurricane Ida and was searching the Internet for a replacement when I came upon Hobbs Modern's website and spotted this beauty. I spoke with Nicole on the phone for nearly a half an hour about the chair and its designer George Mulhauser and she really knew her stuff. Delivery was surprisingly fast. And the restoration job is just breathtaking. It looks like it just rolled off the 1960 assembly line. Quite the time capsule. I couldn't be happier.

I've been following Hobbs Modern for over a year now after finding them on Instagram while shopping for Midcentury furniture. After many desired pieces came and went, I was so thrilled to be able to buy a Knoll Womb Chair in perfect condition. Nicole was so quick to get on a FaceTime with me to examine the piece, answered any question I had about it, and reassured me it would arrive in the best condition it could. I'm located in New York and Nicole and Ryan are in San Diego, but I bit the bullet by buying an expensive piece sight unseen in person, and I couldn't be happier. The chair arrived in a few weeks by an incredible shipper who took such care to make sure the chair was wrapped and unwrapped expertly. How thrilled was I the first time I sat in my gorgeous, perfect condition chair and promptly fell asleep. Too bad the chair now belongs to my dog who decided she had ownership rights.

I have already asked Nicole to set aside chairs for me as they arrive so I can purchase one for my parents. Thank you, Nicole and Ryan, for lovingly caring for these pieces and passing them along to happy customers!
