I purchased a brand new ceiling fan, manufactured by Home Decorators Collection, through Amazon. On the front of the manual, it clearly states that, if missing parts, I should call them before returning the item. It does NOT indicate that Home Decorators Collection is the same company as Home Depot.

The fan was missing a part. Assuming that, like every other company in the world, they would replace the part which I had PAID FOR and was NOT INCLUDED, I let the my installer complete the installation.

When I called them, they refused to replace the part, claiming that because I had not bought the fan from home depot it was not covered. Never mind that they had sold it to SOMEONE, that it was BRAND NEW in a SEALED BOX, and that they HAD NOT INCLUDED the part. Because I didn't buy it from Home Depot, I had to pay for the missing part - $35!!! Which was a QUARTER OF THE COST of the entire fan, for ONE MISSING PART.

Amazon would have accepted a return of course - but since the fan was already installed, I had no choice to pay. NOWHERE is it marketed that they will only replace missing parts if you purchased from Home Depot. And in large font it CLEARLY states that they should be called for missing parts, which led to me completing the installation.

I cannot remember ever dealing with a company which was so unethical. I will never purchase a Home Decorators product again. I will never do business with Home Depot again. And I cannot advise STRONGLY ENOUGH to avoid dealing with this company at all costs. Beyond the risk of being scammed yourself, supporting this terrible company only heightens the risk of others being scammed as well.
