We had a great design consultation with Kristen. My husband has been preparing binders with tearsheets and ideas for a few years. She added value by presenting ideas we hadn't previously considered and was objective and honest in her feedback on things we are considering. We are working to update our home to transitional blending our current traditional and contemporary design. Because of her creative background Kristen was able to provide ideas for us to achieve the look we want.

Kristen is absolutely fantastic! She has transformed our great room, dining room, outdoor space, powder room and master bathroom into elegant and stylish (also kid friendly) areas. She worked with us with our budget and tastes and suggested very appropriate and lovely furniture pieces and accessories. We continue to work with her room by room. I highly recommend her!

Kristen is so much fun to work with, and has been really patient with my budget concerns, as well as my obsession with sustainable sourcing—kapok-filled pillows anyone?
We began with the bedroom, which I wanted to re-do quickly while my husband was out of town. Instead of replacing the bed, she transformed it with paint and some locally-stitched upholstery. Etsy rugs now sit easily with West Elm side tables. My husband scoffed at the splurge of hand-blown glass hanging lights by the side of the bed, but was an immediate convert when they arrived.
For our oddly-shaped living room, she transformed the space by using existing furniture, but made simple changes—like altering the floorplan—which makes it feel like a different room. She also honored our large book collection by designing a built-in book system which simultaneously lifted the feel of our rather low ceilings and unified the room. All we’re waiting for now is the book nook cushion filled with natural latex for the room to be complete!:)
But Kristen’s greatest gift is building a mood. She can take any space, no matter how quirky, and turn it into a room you’d like, to live, work, read, and dream in.

Kristen is a dream interior designer. We have worked with her on several occasions in varying capacities. She has helped us navigate all kinds of design decisions large and small, including paint color, window treatments, furniture, lighting, tile, fixtures, carpet, and upholstery. She is open to working with your budget and pushed us to consider a color or object that was outside our comfort zone that now we can't imagine living without. She has an exceptional ability to pull a room together, even if she didn't design every inch of it. That's a rare gift. Her creativity, access to artists and artisans, knowledge of vendors in all categories and design sensibility is outstanding. She has an incredible sense of style and design and is very down to earth which makes for a positive and productive working relationship. I also appreciate her responsiveness and openness about the process. I would work with her again and would be comfortable having her design every room in the house, top to bottom.

Kristen Messina is a fabulously talented designer of interiors and exteriors, creating spaces that are both artistic and comfortable. I hired her for both a living room and guest house renovation. I felt like she listened to what I wanted and transformed my random thoughts into a cohesive, thoughtful design. She has a seamless working style from the first consult to the last picture hung. She was involved in everything from designing the space layout, hiring contractors, and overseeing construction to picking wall colors, finding furniture and art. She has a rolodex of amazing vendors and she is wonderful at communicating with them. I highly recommend Kristen Messina!
