Lawn & Order badly damaged our new fence with fertilizer overspray. The business owner is denying any responsibility to the highly visible black splatter marks that run along the perimeter of our fence that were not present before they sprayed and became visible immediately after. The damage has also been confirmed as fertilizer overspray from other industry professionals, as well as pretty much anyone who sees it. We are understanding of the fact that mistakes happen and we were willing to work with the company for a fair resolution - unfortunately, the owner lacks the integrity to make it right. Lawn & Order damaged our property and when contacted regarding a repair, didn't bother to reply. After our experience, I recommend staying clear of this business. 0/5
After the owner denied the damage was caused by their spray, we had two other companies assess our fence (a fence & stain business and a fertilizer company business owner); both stated with confidence that the damage was due to fertilizer overspray. When I googled images of fertilizer overspray, the results were identical to our fence. In all honesty, you don't need to be an expert to know this is chemical overspray. Photos truly do not do justice for the eyesore Lawn and Order created. Still, the owner of this business attempted to blame everything and anything else.
First, he blamed our sprinklers, stating it was water damage. Lawn and Order's fertilizer crew lead said that it was from 'high pressure' sprinklers that needed to be adjusted. Even though this seemed a little ridiculous, I ran our sprinklers to show that they aren't even close to the worst areas and also our sprinklers are far from 'high pressure'. Water would not leave the black splatter pattern that you can see in the photos and it was their team that turned on and adjusted our sprinklers anyway (which also didn't go well). When that obviously wasn't the cause, Lawn & Order’s owner then blamed our fence stain. Again, this isn't possible - our fence was stained when it was installed in 2022 and nothing like this happened until Lawn & Order sprayed. We have photos prior to their spray when there are no marks present around the bottom of our fence, then photos from immediately after they sprayed when the dark splatter marks are clearly present. When we ruled out the stain as the issue, I was then told that I took too long to let them know. I took photos when I first saw it a day or two after Lawn & Order sprayed, but hoped after some rain and/or time they would fade. I didn't want to waste anyone's time or energy for an issue that might be temporary. I also didn't think there would be a dispute as to the cause of the obvious spray marks. When the overspray became darker and much more apparent, the business was contacted (about two weeks after they sprayed). The owner defensively stated that he didn't know what happened in the time gap, which felt like a stretch - Lawn & Order was hired to do both fertilizer and pest; what else would we have sprayed in that short time? How many people do I have coming by to spray chemicals on our lawn? In any case, I let him know I have security cameras that can prove nothing further occurred. In retrospect, it wouldn't have mattered when I contacted them, given their initial response of deflecting blame to anyone else possible rather than taking responsibility for the most obvious cause.
Although I appreciated that the owner voided our bill to ‘call it even’, he continued to deny it was from their work and it was clear he was pushing for me to settle with him quickly, prior to having anyone else take a look at it. This is not the action of someone who thinks they had nothing to do with it. After receiving a reasonable repair quote, I requested that he cover the repair of the portion they damaged (the balance after our voided bill amount - a couple hundred dollars), which felt like a fair resolution. As stated above, the owner has not responded.
Last note - most of the existing 5/5 google reviews for this business are the owner and his friends/employees.
