We contacted them regarding a minor upgrade to our existing Lutron system. They seem competent and personable. Things took a long time to progress – multiple missed telephone appointments and long absences – but that wasn’t too much of a problem since our schedule was non-urgent. Finally, after 2 months they were ready to roll and we had an appointment set for the work for the following day. At which point they sent a BOM that included 9 hours of programming time. Which seemed high for a minor upgrade. I emailed back and asked that, if it started to extend past a few hours, to coordinate with me so we could manage costs. At which point they seemed to feel I was questioning their integrity. I wrote placatingly to say all is good, let's talk by phone. They never called, despite multiple requests, and then wrote a terse note saying they were abandoning the job. So, in the end, a complete waste of their time and mine.
Bottom line – if you have no schedule to meet, and you're willing to not try and work with them to manage the job efficiently, then I have no reason to believe they're not competent. But if you do have a schedule to meet, or you'd like to manage them as one normally manages contractors, then I’d find another vendor.
