Lighting Distinctions took our yard and personalized it specifically to its highlights. They were super easy to work with, and they truly are designers and not contractors. They were accomodating and professional and explained everything along the way. The work was done quickly but efficiently, and everything is now super easy to control from the phone. The lighting looks great and professional without being obnoxious to our neighbors. We worked mostly with Stephanie for the design and John came for the demo. See pictures below to see for yourself!

I really love our new permanent Holiday lighting installation from Lighting Distinctions. We went with the Gemstone system that is incredibly bright and colorful. The app is easy to use and offers a ton of pre-programmed options as well as making it straightforward to create your own patterns. Joel and the installers from Lighting Distinctions were great to work with. A clean installation is key to making the final product "invisible" during the day and dazzling at night. The installers were very meticulous in ensuring that all corners and transitions were precise and seamless. The installation of the controller box and associated wiring was also extremely professional, you need a flashlight and determination to find any trace of the wires. Overall, working with Lighting Distinctions was a very positive experience and I'm looking forward to many years of beautiful, maintenance-free all-occasions lighting.

The team provided a complimentary consultation visit which included a sampling of their ideas that would enhance our place. We worked out a plan that met our needs. We are thrilled with, and love, our new permanent lighting around the roof line of our house in Olivenhain. Every year we have paid about $700 to have Christmas lights hung up on our roof (two-story home). We have seen some houses around town with Halloween or Thanksgiving-colored lights, and some of our neighbors’ houses have had year-round white lights, which I thought was so pretty. So, we thought it would be great to get year-round lights ourselves, so we can celebrate holidays year-round and change the light colors all of the time.

We contacted Lighting Distinctions, they gave us a quote, and they were out to install the lights within the week. We are delighted with our new lights, which offer us infinite colors and designs. My husband and I each have the Gemstone app on our respective iPhones, and we can change the colors and light patterns instantly. We can choose a pattern where the lights will blink, chase around the roof line, fade in and out, etc. Or, we can create/design our own patterns and colors from a palate. When the Packers are playing, I put on their team colors to surprise my husband.

We wish we had known about Lighting Distinctions six years ago when we installed regular Christmas lights. We became bored with the same lights after two or three years. Now, we have something fresh and new every night. The Lighting Distinctions owner (Joel, a long-time Encinitas businessman) and his entire staff are very responsive and professional. We give them 5 stars!

I highly recommend Joel at Lighting Distinctions! My landscape project was a labor of love and I wanted to illuminate our outdoor space to be able to enjoy it at night, to not only install functional pathway lighting along the edges of the winding secret pathways I had created, but also to create a magical ambience. 

The landscape lighting sets the tone enhancing the beauty of our home. I worked with Joel at Lighting Distinctions featuring key elements that I wanted to draw the eye to, using soft lenses to keep the lighting romantic. Our property has magnificent trees that we highlighted with uplights and downlights. We used these trees to create a soft moonlight effect to light up our seating and garden areas. 

With Joesl's expert experience we collaborated  and chose a combination of lighting with his advice, to create the effect I wanted transforming our outdoors from the beauty of the day to the most magical, beautiful place at night, to enjoy, dine and relax for ourselves and guests.

We are so happy with the sense of tranquility and beauty that has been created illuminating our entrance, water features, garden seating areas, little vignettes, trees and shrubs!
