I had my kitchen remodeled by Lorain Design. Penny and her team were amazing! Penny herself is hands-on. She was the designer and the project manager for me, because that's what I needed. She is cognizant of aesthetic as well as function. She has a crew that she works with who are all great. The contractor, the floor specialist, the tile guys, the plumber... everyone! I threw in extra work to the job along the way and Penny and the contractor were able to fit it in. She really knows whom to call for what task. She made it clear from the beginning what a realistic price tag would look like. And... my kitchen (and office, and living room) all look fabulous. She really listened to what I wanted, and augmented the ideas I had. A couple of months later and I still am happy just sitting in the house and looking around. Jennifer May and Penny Lorain of Lorain & May Design Associates are talented, careful and cheerful designers who have markedly improved and enhanced our house remodel. Jennifer’s cheerful approach to color and thorough checking and rechecking of paint palettes resulted in a beautiful sophisticated look throughout our house. She and Penny have a great sense of eye appeal and continuity and helped us choose everything from wall colors to the color of a new couch, a covered headboard, tile grout and lighting switches, things we might not have the patience or knowledge to pursue. Penny accompanied us to a furniture store 35 miles away to help us decide which shape, size and style foldout couch would be most comfortable and complement existing furniture and room space. One of the great things about working with them is that they enjoy what they’re doing, which is transmitted to us. It’s fun when designers’ personalities mesh with your own, when you can enjoy their sense of style – and when they’re affordable! We feel taken care of with Jennifer and Penny, and they’ve made the sometimes-tedious process of a remodel more fun. They are also helpful trimming costs when they can see we’ve run out of steam and money. We recommend them without reservation and with great enthusiasm!
