Modern Paving installed a new paver patio/pool deck as well as landscape lighting and irrigation in our backyard. They did an excellent job. We had not engaged in a project like this before and didn't know a lot of the details. David and Kim were very professional and responsive to all questions and concerns. At the same time, we were having the pool refinished. David was very helpful in coordinating efforts with other contractors. I would work with them again on any future projects.

David is great. He has a fantastic sense of design and is able to see what can be done even when looking at an uninspiring existing installation. We talked to many paving contractors to replace our driveway, walkway, and front porch. Our previous lack of imagination was matched by other contractors lack of vision as to what could be done. David opened up our eyes to the potential vision he could see that would totally improve and change everything for the better. After consulting many other paving contractors, who all offered the same tired designs, David was an inspiring breath of fresh air. He suggested radical changes that initially were shocking (get rid of some old tired landscaping, remove a sidewalk, adding a front garden, widening and adding curves and flair to a walkway, eliminating an unnecessary step (replaced with a gentle slope), and more. We also had a damaged section of our back yard concrete patio replaced by pavers.

David's imaginative design was matched by his high technical knowledge of what needed to be built. His crew was extremely competent and careful. Even when the unexpected happened and the crew discovered that the old driveway being removed was laid directly on the water supply line (which should have been way beneath the driveway), the crew extremely carefully removed the old driveway without interrupting water service. It was quite amazing. The water line replacement by a plumbing contractor, coordinating with Modern Paving, was part of our larger project, but the careful demolition by the Modern Paving crew prevented an emergency of a broken water line (which would not have been their fault) and allowed the plumbing crew to replace it as part of the scheduled work.

The careful attention to detail by the Modern Paving crew led by Emilcar was impressive. The installation was flawless and looks beautiful. David was on site almost every day, supervising the work. (Not that they needed supervising, as the crew were experts).

As part of the work, we had landscape lighting installed. Zach designed where the lights were to be installed and even installed temporary lighting (before burying wires and permanently mounting fixtures) so that we could make sure everything was perfect. We even added some additional fixtures when we saw how wonderful it looked.

Modern Paving is your dream contractor. We did a lot of remodeling inside and outside our house after we moved in and worked with a lot of contractors. I seriously wish every contractor was like Modern Paving. They are communicative, flexible, and really good at what they do. We used Modern Paving to install pavers in our backyard and turf in our dog run. They had a tricky job, coordinating with our pool contractor that was finishing up pool construction in our backyard as well.

Our initial communications and on-site visits were with David and Kim. They were always available for questions and to provide advice on everything from design to timing since we were working with multiple contractors for our backyard.

Zach was our project manager and he is such a star. He checked in with us every single day so we always knew what to expect. No question was ever left unanswered. He's also passionate about his work and doing what's best for the client. We were going to skip on a lighting upgrade due to costs and he worked with us to find a solution we could accept because he felt that lights would make a huge difference in our backyard. And he's right - the lighting looks fabulous and we're so glad he worked with us to find a viable solution.

They were also so patient in dealing with the other contractors we were working with. In fact, they were so great that they took care of coordinating and nagging some of our other contractors for us!

I'm so glad we went with Modern Paving and really can't recommend them enough.

I contracted Modern Paving to lay a slab of concrete approx. 25'x30' and install a basketball hoop/light/net combo to serve as a basketball court, where I can lay additional court tiles on top.

I mostly prioritized quality and professionalism. I could not find good contractors that specialized in building courts, so I went with Modern Paving to lay the concrete slab and had their builders install the very large and heavy hoop.

The workers showed up and worked professionally and had good standard of leaving work places relatively tidy. In the end, the court speaks for itself. I am satisfied with the work, likely use them again and can recommend them to others.

My HOA's pool deck was suffering from drainage backups after heavy rains. We tried to clear the three deck drains only to find out they were full of roots and probably had never been cleaned since their installation in 1959. We considered several options to remedy the situation: trench out and replace the existing drainage system; resurface the deck with a better drainage topology; replace the deck with new concrete; and replace the deck with pavers. Pavers seemed like the best option, since they are easy to replace when repairs need to be made below the deck. We were not happy with the broken-up, uneven, cracked concrete repairs accumulated over the years. We also didn't like repainting the deck every 5-7 years in what I will lovingly call "1950's flamingo pink."

When researching paver installers, Modern Paving stood out from the start. All of the images in their online reviews reflected detailed, attractive work. I got in touch with David, and he was responsive and provided an incredible reference (another HOA). He was patient through our multi-year decision and approval process. He assisted with the permit process. He suggested changing the pavers we had selected for our benches to a newer product, more appropriate for the look-and-feel of our deck when we were mid-project, and it made a huge difference.

Zach, our project manager, was sensitive to all of the details, especially the ones important to us, and made sure to communicate preemptively and throughout the process. There were many things he caught before I did, and given the amount of construction oversight I have done, I can say that is rare and much appreciated. Zach also installed our 12V lighting system and did a lovely job planning the layout. We hadn't considered upgrading our lighting until he pointed out the difference it would make in the overall ambiance, and we are so glad we did.

Jose and crew were amazing to work with during the demolition and installation. Jose is a master craftsman and can truly do anything. He's not shy about it, either! I am sure I annoyed him with my nit-picky questions all day long, but he was cool and collaborated with me through the whole thing. Modern Paving is very lucky to have him.

These guys were great, and I highly recommend them.

David and his team did an amazing job to turn most of our backyard into a beautiful patio. The quality of their work was impeccable. The guys worked very hard and were in great spirts even with a rainy day in between. They were very professional and very friendly. After they started working, we decided to expand the patio by around 25% and they kept on accommodating our needs, adding resources to deliver by the promised date. Everything was perfectly coordinated and well-prepared. They didn't Nickle and Dime us for unforeseen events. The guys worked non-stop from 9 to 6, four days in a row, taking very short breaks for lunch. So impressive! Thanks David and the rest of the team!

I had a great experience with Modern Paving. They did paving work in my back yard to expand previous paving work done by another company. Modern Paving did a beautiful job in seamlessly blending the new pavers into the existing patio and I love how it turned out. They also added a new walkway. David was a delight to work with and had good suggestions. The whole crew was very efficient and professional. I would indeed work with them again.
