I purchased three rugs a few months ago. Harold and his daughter Dana run the store and are extremely helpful and nice. They have a significant selection of rugs, from small pieces only several feet wide, to large room centerpieces. Harold is experienced and knowledgable so you can shop with confidence that he will help you decide which rug works best for your situation.

Once you pick a rug or two that you may want to purchase, Harold will let you take them home and see if they work well in your space. Rugs look different in the setting of your house than in the store so he encourages you to take a few home and try them out.

They also repair and clean rugs.

This is a store with beautiful rugs and helpful knowledgable family owners.

I love this place, what a gem. There are tons of options and they are great quality. The owner and his employee were kind and very helpful. Looking forward to buying more from them over time. So great to have to have access to beautiful rugs that you can see in person in SLO.

We brought our $2000 hand made silk rug to this shop to be cleaned. The owner assured us he was very experienced in cleaning silk rugs, so we agreed to have it cleaned by him. Immediately when see the rug after the owner cleaned it, it was very clear the rug was ruined. It was no longer soft and shiny, but course, frayed, and dull. When asking what happened and if it could be fixed, the owner acted as if every was perfectly fine and there was nothing wrong with it. This was quite obviously untrue to even someone that knows very little about silk rugs.

We then contacted a leading rug restorer in LA to get his opinion and what could be done to repair the carpet. He said the rug was cleaned incorrectly and caused extensive damage to silk fiber and pile. We were told it would cost thousands of dollars to repair the rug and recommend we not go forward with restoration, because it would cost more then the rugs value.

Upon bringing this information to the owner, it was quite clear he did not care. He continuously said “the rug is clean”. No one disagreed the rug had been cleaned, yet destroyed in the process. I am not sure if he is knowingly or unknowingly destroying silk carpets, but it is very evident that he will continue to do this to customers in the future.

I write this review in hopes to prevent another persons cared for rug being ruined by this individual.

It just can't get any better than Old World Rugs. I recommend them with out any reservation. I've had them clean two family heirloom rugs in the past year and not only did the rugs come out beautiful, the customer service I received was as good as it could possibly be. How lucky we are to have them locally. Outstanding. If you don't believe me, check them out for your self and you'll see why I'm gushing over the service I received.

Can't say how glad we are that we stumbled across this wonderful store in SLO! We had been searching for months to find a solution for how to add color to the walls of a narrow, beautiful talavera and saltillo tile stairway in our small home. The owner and staff of Old World Rugs gave us so much time, helpful and interested support, and education on rugs in general and their regional characteristics. Highly recommended.

Not only do they have a beautiful selection of rugs, they also clean and consign rugs. I recently consigned a rug with them, they told me they thought it wold sell quickly and it did for the amount promised and I quickly received payment. I would highly recommend old world rugs.

Thank you to Richard and staff for going above and beyond on the cleaning of our Indigo Tabriz Karastan rug. They made sure it was done right and even picked it up and dropped it off at our home in East AG. I appreciate the excellent customer service, we have had this rug cleaned and serviced with them for over 18 years, and it is always great.
