Working with Mark at Furniture Repair and Restoration was a great experience. Assessing our damaged Rattan chair dining set, he made excellent recommendations on how to best proceed with the repairs, and in fact improve the original pieces. He matched the furniture coloring perfectly and we are very happy with his work and friendly demeanor. Would recommend to anyone in need of furniture repair and restoration services.

My parents had an old Chinese coffee table with beautiful mother-of-pearl inlay. Unfortunately, due to the many years of use and abuse, it was in poor shape. The first furniture restorer told me he could not work on it. Luckily, when I called Mark, he said he could do it. He drove out to my house to assess the table, explained what needed to be done, gave me an estimate, and took the table with him in his truck. The result is a beautifully restored beloved heirloom.

Took Over 2 Weeks to Fix a Chair & Still Missed Promise Date!

We figured 2 weeks was plenty of time to have the loose arm on our dining room chair fixed prior to Thanksgiving. We took it to OM Repair and much to our surprise, it wasn’t a repair shop like we expected, but a residence and the repair person was renting a room at this residence. All very strange! Regardless, he said he could fix the chair arm by Thanksgiving (when we had guests coming) for $300 and it would be ready in 4 working days. So we left the chair with him.

We didn’t hear anything for 6 days so we called and were told it wasn’t ready. We reminded him again that we needed it for Thanksgiving. We continued to call every other day and kept getting excuses.

Two days before Thanksgiving he left a voicemail saying we could pick it up. We called him back a couple hours later and he was making a delivery in the East Bay and said we’d have to get it the next day.

The following day we found out his truck broke down during the delivery and we’d have to wait until after Thanksgiving. We asked if we could leave payment with his landlord but he refused. So despite all our best efforts we didn’t have the chair for Thanksgiving and had to rent one.

I would strongly warn anyone from doing business with OM Repair. He’s highly unprofessional, charges too much, misses his deadlines, and is rude and obnoxious during conversations.

We had an old dinning table that we wanted to get refinished to a white colour as it would match our recent house renovation.

Initially we had someone else do the work but the quality wasn’t good especially the chairs. I called several furniture repair businesses and Mark was the one that was willing to come to my house and take a look at them.

He was helpful in taking the job and sanding down the chairs and refinishing them for us.

Really happy the our table has a new lease of life and many more years for us to enjoy. Thank you Mark.

After paying for a supposed fix on my recliner the chair is still broken.
I even provided the parts.
"You paid me for a service call.. which means I come yo your house.. after that it costs more". He replaced one missing spring, which I provided.
I asked for him to replace another spring that was failing.. "It's either broken or it isn't.. your chair is fine"
It wasn't fine. Spring I wanted replaced broke. The other 2 broken springs that needed replacing he insisted didn't need replacing. WRONG.
Argumentive, rude and unprofessional.
I finally told him I just wanted him to leave my property.
Don't waste your time.
He makes the rules and cares little about what the customer wants.
BTW. He works for cash. "Cash is king".

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I feel for the money paid the work was not up to par. I am very disappointed. I paid $250 for Mark to basically glue my drawer back together and further damage it. When I retrieved it from him, there was a huge chip on the corner that wasn't there before. I believe this is damage he caused during the repair. Some of the areas he glued were not flush and you can see the wood is splitting in some areas. Also, when I put the drawer back into the dresser, it doesn't close all the way. When I asked him about it and he said it's a piece of junk modern furniture, not an antique. I told him it is real wood and a family heirloom that means something to me and my family. He told me he doesn't deal with emotion but with business only. He told me he is not going to give me any money back, and asked me to drop the drawer off and he will see if he can fix the areas I'm not happy with. I'm not sure I want to go back to him considering how rude and insensitive he is. I cannot recommend him.

Update: Mark agreed to fix the table at no cost. We are very excited to get our table back! I’m sure it will look great.

I hired Mark to repair my antique pine table and it looks horrible. It doesn't even look like pine any longer. It is covered in thick grey lacquer and is so very ugly. You can see my chairs are pine. The table is not. I've called and called, but Mark's voicemail is full. I've texted and he says yes, he'll come and fix it, but then he never follows through. And, it was VERY expensive. Not a great experience for me. If Mark will call and come and fix my table, I will revise this review, but it's been months now and I can't get any response.

Mark is a great guy and I can see how his custom work is held in such high regard. Unfortunately that was not my experience. It took literally 3+ months to get work done that he promised would be completed in weeks. The upholstery work was great but it does me no good if the seat bottoms aren’t attached properly. I’m now finding another person to fix what I already paid a HEFTY price tag to mark for. please note, seat bottoms were not a problem until mark took them off then forgot the screws needed to attach them so he ran to Home Depot and clearly used the wrong screws. I’ve never seen this from a chair repair 🤦
