Everyone rates this place 5 stars, so it's hard to ignore on Yelp. Given buying a mattress is a hard decision, I trusted the reviews and gave it a shot. Mike is not only a SUPER nice guy, but he is ultra knowledgeable about beds. I explained what I was looking for, and he walked me through the process. Of all the beds, he had me pick from only 3 based on my criteria. And boom, I am now a proud bed owner. He even let me take home a mattress pad to try out for 2 weeks! Who does that?!?

Buyers beware, the manager of the store is unethical, a pathological liar, and has a terrible personal reputation in Santa Monica due to scamming many people in the area. I have no idea how this store got so many positive reviews. Make sure to be informed about your consumer protections when buying a mattress on this or any store.

I interviewed six buyers and found multiple online forums laying out their actual experiences with "Mike". According to multiple buyers and reports online, he tends to lie, gaslight customers, and deny refunds at first, but when pressed, will grant said refunds for a 20% restocking fee.

If you intend to go, make sure to ask the following questions:

1. Does the mattress come with a smell. Some mattresses take up to two months to clear out. Ask "Mike" at the store and pay attention to what he answers, then do your own research and gauge how trustworthy the manager's response is.

2. California law allows buyers to return a mattress when bought directly from the supplier, but it allows mattress resellers to establish their own return policy. However, the policy must be clearly visible in the store and website. When going to this establishment, ensure the policy is displayed correctly and that you are warned before your purchase. R mattress does not have a return policy, only store credit. It's a fine print on a contract that you are only informed AFTER you signed and made the purchase.

3. The manufacturers set mattress prices so it's impossible to get swindled by the price; where they get you is the return policy and add-ons. Please do your research, especially buying Foam based mattresses. The foam material emits a gas made from chemicals that have not been tested for impact on health by a third party. The gases may take up to 3 months to dissipate. These resellers buy the mattress at a wholesale price under 50% and then sell it back to customers at a set price, ensuring a 100% profit.

Avoid this store. Go to Avocado or a local LA mattress business operated by decent local people. Support local and avoid the mega corporate brands. If you love buying used cars from desperate car salesmen at the end of their rope and you enjoyed being lied to and gaslit, this is the store for you!
