I found myself with an electrical problem late on a Friday afternoon. I searched for electricians in my area. The first company I called quoted me a much more expensive hourly rate. I then called Republic Lighting and spoke to Charlie. He was so very friendly over the phone and was available to come take a look at my situation on a Saturday. I asked if Saturday rates were more expensive, he said no. I was pleasantly surprised. When Charlie showed up he was so nice and professional, it was evident he knew what he was talking about. He quickly fixed my issue (no more than 15 minutes) and charged me less than I expected to pay. I thought he did a great job and will certainly use him again when the need arises. It’s nice to do deal with an honest business that has talent and integrity. Thank you Charlie, I’ll definitely recommend you to all of my friends and family!

Charlie is the repairman you always hoped for (but never saw). He personally answers the phone to set up the appointment and review the job. He promptly arrives on time. We needed outlet installations that posed some unusual electrical requirements and Charlie was able to figure it out from his years of experience. His meticulous repair process was like that of a neurosurgeon. Highly recommend him.

I would have to say Charlie with Republic Lighting Services is thorough, excellent and outstanding electrician here in Santa Barbara. I had my breaker box go out on me during a powerful rain storm. Charlie showed up to my door within an hour and evaluated my breaker box situation. We had our permit and he was working on my new box install the same day. Charlie is a hardworking, very knowledgable and dedicated to his work. He explains things and what he is doing as he is working. He even found electrical issues/problems that other electric companies left behind. He was fairly priced and honest. I found my new electrician and Charlie is the man.

Charlie is an absolute pleasure to work with. He recently completed the electrical work for my change from a gas water heater to a heat pump electric water heater. His work was thorough and swift, and he communicated clear directions to be shared with the plumbers to help bring a few things up to modern electrical code.

As a homeowner who has a moderate understanding of electrical code I really appreciate Charlie pointing out a few other areas where things aren't quite up the current code, and explaining the rational for the changes. These conversations opened the door for additional work, but in a very informative way.

Overall, I am incredibly pleased with Charlie's work, and he is at the top of my list for future electrical work.

We had one of our circuit breakers grow old and needed a replacement installed. Charlie had done a full panel replacement for us on a rental unit several years before, and we were pleased with his work then, so we called him again. He made himself available the next morning and arrived on schedule. His first order of business was safety and he checked for power in several places before tracing the circuit and opening the panel. He noted that the aluminum conductors used in our home required a special bonding paste to improve connections to the brass screws. He finds aluminum conductors infrequently, so his old tube of paste did not satisfy him. So he excused himself and drove to his electrical supply to replace it. Within an hour, he had removed the old breaker, trimmed the old wire, correctly applied the new paste required by the National Electrical Code, and installed the new breaker. At one point, he went to his truck to bring back one of his reference books. He looked up the gauge of the aluminum wire to make sure that it was code compliant and explained that he would not have left the old wire in service if it were not up to current code. While walking past an external plug that had an open waterproof door, he thoughtfully observed that leaving it open during a rainstorm could result in a short circuit. He was careful to make sure that we were not offended by his constructive observation and comment. Charlie is not only a seasoned electrician, but human being with a genuine concern for the safety of others. Charlie is a licensed electrician with years of experience. We enjoyed his explanations of each step of the project and cannot recommend him highly enough.

Charlie is a craftsman. His work reflects his expertise, knowledge, and talent. Today he worked quickly at my 2 properties. My problem was the new energy saving light bulbs were flickering when I turned the lights on on my old fixtures. He upgraded all my dimmable switches to the new California Electrical Standards. Now I can use the new energy saving dimmable LED lightbulbs in the whole house. He carefully diagnosed and fixed other electrical issues from previous electrician's work. He uses text messaging, and he is very prompt answering his phone. He is dedicated to doing fine work. Thank you Charlie!
