Sepulveda cares about Homeowners!!

I feel compelled to write this review. I went to their business to buy rock in bulk for my backyard. I am not a contractor and don't know much about this process. I picked out the rock and bought a scoop at the front desk. I took the ticket to the yard area and the fork lift driver brought a bag. He weighed the bag and it showed 2356lbs. He told me he would have to pour some in but not all of it as it was too much. I showed him that the sticker and receipt that shows 1400lbs. So I suggested we subtract 1400 from 2356 to determine how much needs to remain in the bag. He agreed and we did so and I left.

I ended up needing another scoop so I went back and bought another. A different yard worker brought the bag from before. I commented that the bag only had 900 or so lbs left and was not a full scoop. He seemed confused as he said it was one scoop. I offered to get clarity at the front office and did. The lady in the office confirmed the scoop was 1400 lbs and told the yard staff to add rock until it weighed 1400. We went back to the loading area to do so when another worker told them not to. He told me that the bag was one scoop and they could not add more.

What do I know?! I'm being told different things so I ask "ok so what do we do to resolve this because I'm being told two different things?" He says he'll go talk to the front and I go with him. He tells the office lady the same thing and she says she has always understood it to be 1400 lbs. He says the label doesn't matter walks out of the office.

I'm left confused and ask what the decision is and who decides. The font lady is upset and says that she doesn't think its right that the label says 1400 and for me to only get 900. Another male office staff says he always thought it was 1400 as well but does not know. I state "well if he's the boss and make the final call then fine". The lady says he is a yard supervisor but reiterates that she doesn't think its fair.

At this point a woman who I think is an office supervisor comes to talk to me and educates me that the label is an approximation of a tractor scoop and varies. She acknowledges the confusion and understands that I was told something different than that. She tries to find the yard supervisor who I guess has still walked off. She makes the decision to add the weight to the scoop as resolution, keeping in mind that going forward, the weight will be half of the bag for one scoop and a full bag for two scoops - regardless of weight.

I got the impression that the supervisor was not happy with the office lady but I want to make it clear that the situation was resolved very much how it should have been.

Lady in the office (I don't know your name) . . . Thank you!!! You advocated for me and said out loud what I was thinking. You were helping and looking out for me. You didn't say anything I wasn't already thinking. I appreciate you. I am not a contractor. I'm a homeowner doing a small project (big for me) and that place is intimidating but you made me feel like I matter.

Supervisor (again sorry I don't know your name). You were also amazing. You split the difference by helping me understand but making sure I didn't feel cheated. Its a few hundred lbs of rock but you keep a customer. No I get how this works.

Yard supervisor. . . you were probably right the whole time but you gotta understand the other side of the equation. I wasn't trying to "get something by" your business. I also had no idea who was in charge. Walking off was not great but I get that your job is running the yard not customer facing.

Sure. . . the office lady may have been a bit rough around the edges but I am in a rock yard not a fancy hotel. I get that as a supervisor (I am in management) you don't want staff saying things that might seems disparaging to you own business but I didn't get that from her. She just has a lot of empathy for the little guy. That was my takeaway anyway.

I'll be coming back knowing you guys care about every customer.

Bought 4 scoops of gravel today. The guy at the desk was super helpful in giving us information on how many scoops we would need and kindly answered all of our questions regarding cost and the like for each type of rock / gravel they had. I was running late for our last scoop, and despite me arriving just a couple minutes before closing, the guy operating the machinery went out of his way to make sure I got the last bit I needed before I had to return the rental trailer we were using. Great service, and huge props to that particular gentleman. We will absolutely be coming back when we need landscaping materials!

They gave us an estimate to partially refill pavers with pea gravel when we went to bid a job... We were told 20 scoops by the initial estimate, then 66 before we went to do the job. We ordered 25 just in case and went against their recommendation. We ended up only using about 5 total scoops and they're basically telling us "it's our problem" and they won't allow us to return it unless it's in bags. Unfortunately they didn't deliver in any bags so we're stuck making 4 dump runs to pick it all up.

Had a very pleasant experience here. Staff was attentive and courteous. They patiently answered my questions and offered different solutions with various options. The kid VICTOR that helps with the weighing and loading the material went out of his way go make things go smooth and easy. He is a big reason for this review. On top of all of that they gave me a discount in the end. Will definitely return to this place and recomend it to family and friends. Just keep up the good service and prices.

I've been having a hard time trying to find the color of rocks that I like at a decent price. Supulveda had a variety of colors & decent pricing. I should've came here first! 👍🏼😉

Great place to get your hardscrape supplies
Helpful friendly staff and they delivered my 5k lbs of stone the next day! The delivery driver was great , he had to park a 1/4 mile away because of our narrow street and drive the forklift up our steep street twice to get all the pallets in the driveway. Great job
