Hiked this trail for the first time with my son on a gorgeous day. This is a beautiful, well-maintained trail and there were many other hikers that day. A great workout with all the stairs, but not overly strenuous. Absolutely gorgeous views at the top including the Knik Glacier.

Fun, short trail with a great payoff. Be warned that there are a lot of stairs, so if you have bad knees or aren't in shape, it might be difficult. It's a nice little workout!

Skip the gym and give the 0.25 miles of stairs here a go on your way in to and out from the peak of the butte that has a stunning panoramic view of the plain created by glaciers ages ago.

If we had hiked up the stairs and returned back by the stairs, I would have enjoyed this hike. However, my 30-years-younger companion arranged for us to hike up the stairs and down the dusty slope side. The slope side is basically a steep dry water channel requiring occasional careful hand crawling down rock face. Difficult enough going upward and doubly difficult going down. Stick to the stairs, y'all. Enjoy you friends and neighbors.

Wonderful hike - spectacular views!! The hike itself took about 1.5 hours to get to the top, going at a slower pace. Some areas were a little muddy, and there was a section that was a little slippery, but overall it was not too difficult. It was a nice easy to moderate hike if you're in a decent shape.

The steps were in mostly good condition, and the path was easy to follow. But the views at the top were just miraculous and it was definitely worth the hike to get there!!!

What an amazing hike! I went on April 1. Although the snow was up to the top of the hand rails in some areas, it was pretty well packed, so for the most part, we didn't have to worry about falling in the drifts. The view from the top is spectacular. I'd hike this trail again in a heartbeat.

This is the perfect hike for all ages. I saw kids and older folks all working their way up. There’s 505 total steps you’ll have to take to the top, but it’s all under a canopy of trees and the summit has views stretching in literally every direction. The steps start about 3/4 mile in, right after a nice bench overlook. Overall a super cool, unique hike that puts you up above the farmland but still has views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. It’s pet friendly too (with a leash).

Easily one of the best hikes in the valley. The west trail is the most maintained and hiker friendly. The trail begins on a wide trail through the forest with a gentle incline but quickly becomes steep. After arriving at the picnic table (half way mark), a narrow switch-back staircase with hand rails will assist in ascending the butte. The trail is often busy but trail etiquette is typically very cordial.
